Prozac for dogs?
Question:
Ron, I have just returned from the first ever panel discussion discussing Prozac for animals. I gave the Overview. There were a total of 6 speakers. In your case, it sounds like it may be a form of dominance aggression (where you are attemtping to assert your authority and your dog is becoming aggressive). The bottom line is that Prozac, Anafranil and Zoloft can be effective in treating this condition provided it is done by a professional who completely works up your dog. I have a veterinary psychiatric consulting service and a special interest in these cases. You will need to fill out over 8 pages of forms and undergo an extensive interview. And I am booked until March.
